Luxury Log Cabin - Coming Soon

I am SO EXCITED to talk to you all about 585 Summit Drive in Swanton, MD 21561! Not only is this among the most beautiful homes I have ever had the pleasure of working on, but in just 5 years in the business, this is the second home that I am selling for these clients. While I am sad to see them leave Garrett County for now, I am thrilled for them to begin their next adventure. The Exterior

This may be the most beautiful cabin style home I have ever seen. 585 Summit Drive is remarkable in every way. As you enter the driveway and begin to take in the sites, you will immediately love the expansive covered front porch and the two-car attached garage. While you take it all in, the distinctive materials used to build this home will start to stand out to you. An expert blend of natural log, stacked stone, and board and batten set this home apart. And the roof! The combination of architectural shingles and metal is brilliant.

The deck is much more than a traditional space to enjoy the breathtaking sunsets that you’ll see from this home. It is the ultimate living space all on its. A large covered section of this outdoor gem gives way to stacked stone, wood burning fireplace, a tongue and groove ceiling, and even a ceiling fan to keep the air moving. Luxurious furnishings allow for lounging, dining, napping, anything you can dream of. All while taking in an unmatched panoramic view.

The Interior

As you open the front door and enter the foyer, you will first notice the staircase to the loft level. It’s unique in the best possible way, constructed entirely with natural logs. The walls are finished with barn-wood, the floors, wide-plank hardwood.

Moving into the great room, you will be captivated by the beautifully shaped floor to (tongue-and-groove) ceiling windows. The astonishing stacked stone fireplace is something to behold! To your left you find a spacious dining area overlooking and astonishing view encompassing mountains and Deep Creek Lake.

Turn again to see the unparalleled gourmet kitchen. Custom cabinets, quartz countertops, barn-wood accents, stainless steel Whirlpool appliances, and a commercial 6 burner Viking Range. A breakfast bar provides seating to this focal point of the home. Preparing anything from scrambled eggs to Thanksgiving dinner would be an absolute joy in this incredible space.

From the kitchen, move to the mudroom which is home to a fun and stylish half bath with a bourbon barrel sink stand and chalkboard walls! You’ll love the wood look tile throughout this section of the home. Find the main-level laundry room equipped with authentic lockers for storage and new Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer. Just down from the laundry room is the massive 2 car garage which not only has plenty of space for parking and storing lake toys, but also features a second level storage space, and the ever coveted, garage fridge.

Back across the house, you’ll enter the main-level master suite. It’s the bedroom you’ve been dreaming of, I promise. Pleasantly sizable with a king bed, nightstand, and dresser/tv stand and still lots of space to enjoy the wide plank hardwood floors. Look up to notice the barn wood ceiling. Feel the warmth of the natural light pouring in from the private access to the sizable deck. Enjoy the oversized walk in closet, and then enter the distinctive master bath with 2 vanities capped in quartz countertops, a soaking tub, a monumental custom shower, and a water closet for privacy.

Upstairs on the loft level you will be embraced by light from the custom windows and enjoy 2 seating areas. Find also 2 large bedrooms, each with en-suite, and views of Deep Creek Lake! In the massive lower level you’ll be met by two expansive utility areas, this home is incredibly well built! 2 forced air furnaces, 2 Navien instant hot water heaters, a whole home Generac generator, and 2 reservoir tanks to ensure that no matter what happens outside, you will be safe inside! Step into the living space and enjoy the feel of cushy carpet on your feet. Play a game of foosball, or relax on the large sofa centered around the wood burning stove. Retire to one of 2 bedrooms, each with en-suite and a walk out to the lower-level patio, giving you access to the hot tub deck with lake views.

The Community

Deep Creek Lake is made up of many small communities, neighborhoods, and unique pockets that make it a beautiful place to spend time. In my opinion, the Sky Valley community in Swanton, Maryland is the absolute best of the best. Located on the Southern Part of the lake, the water area is calm and represents the pace at which Deep Creek Lake is best served. There are many types of homes that make up the landscape of Sky Valley. There are cozy cabins, spacious chalets, interesting cottages, and then there are homes like 585 Summit Drive, draped in surprising luxury.

The amenities for this welcoming area are numerous! They include a large community dock system with special PWC docks, canoe and kayak storage, a lake area equipped with easy-to-maneuver stair cases, pavilions, and even restrooms! They offer a sandy beach with a bunch of new picnic tables, a swim platform, and even a roped off swimming area. One of the best features in the community is the private boat launch, available only to Sky Valley homeowners and guests. The fishing pond is stocked with about 100 native fish each year. Lounge in the gazebo that overlooks the pond and enjoy warm summer days! The kiddos will love the playground, sandbox, and basketball hoop. There is a trash compactor on site to help keep nuisance animals from... well, causing a nuisance. While all of this sounds like a lot of fun for the warm months, the community hasn't forgotten to include winter fun too! The sled riding hills near the community area are a BLAST!

There is a full-time property manager and maintenance crew on-site. The maintenance building houses all of the necessary equipment that helps keep Sky Valley beautiful! But it also provides a space for HOA meetings. The staff works hard to keep the roads in tip-top shape making this neighborhood perfect for walking, jogging, or riding a four-wheeler, golf cart, side-by-side, or bicycle around the roads. There is a speed limit of 15 miles an hour to keep the roads looking good and the community members safe.

When purchasing a home in Sky Valley, you automatically have access to all of the community areas. The only thing with any waiting period at all is the dock slip system. According to property manager, Rick Broadwater, there is usually a one season wait. BUT FEAR NOT, with the option to launch your boat within the community, you will still enjoy the water as it is intended!

For more Sky Valley info, check out this video that I shot from the dock there last summer (after getting a sunburn that looks worse than it really was... )!
