2020 - Year In Review

2020 brought so many unexpected challenges and sadness. Through the turmoil, I was able to help 42 clients buy or sell their homes. When everything feels upside down, achieving a goal like buying or selling a house is incredibly significant. For me, being a part of something so meaningful is my "why". Seeing the joy or the relief on someone's face when they get to the closing table is an amazing feeling and I will always be here for it!

Thinking back to my first sales of the year they were:

*a veteran and his wife who were first time home buyers excited to put down roots and settle into a life together.

*a single mom work busts her butt for everything she has, showing her daughters that life is yours for the taking if you work for it.

*A family of 5 who had been renting for more than 10 years, finally accomplishing their dream of homeownership, and no longer paying someone else’s mortgage.

In March, things were looking bad for all of us. It was a scary and uncertain time, and that was as true in my business as it was in every other corner of life. In an effort to keep my clients and community informed, I started hosting virtual open houses and video chats about the real estate market. For the next several months, I was able to reach thousands of people and show them what was on the market without ever coming in contact. This lead to 3 sales that were life-changing for my husband and I at that point. The income from those transactions got us propped up and back on our feet after I, like most Americans, went without a paycheck for the entire spring season.

With no idea what to expect, and the weather getting nicer, I headed back into the office around mid-May. All of the sudden, the phone started ringing and it hasn’t stopped yet. From the ashes of what I thought may have been the end of my career, I was able to carve out the most successful year I’ve had yet. Helping the number of people I did in such a short amount of time is something I look back at now with total shock, disbelief, and tremendous gratitude.

In addition to being able to help more clients than ever before and doubling my sales volume from 2019, this year I’ve also become the president of the Garrett County Board of REALTORS ®. This is an incredible honor. The opportunity to serve my colleagues and community in this role means so much to me. In the coming year I will work with the other members of the board on many objectives, to promote equal, fair, and affordable housing in Garrett County, Maryland. Stay tuned for more on this!

I will also continue my role as a board member with the Dove Center, which provides safety, advocacy, and counseling to individuals whose lives have been shattered by domestic violence and/or sexual assault, and strives to expand public awareness of those issues. I am excited to assist in the growth of their fundraising efforts in the coming year!

2021 is here now! Last year tested all of is. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and forced me to grow in ways I never thought possible. I am enthusiastically running into this new year with new goals that I cannot wait to achieve! I wish you all the best in 2021. Remember, I am STILL here for you!

If you or someone you know has a real estate goal in 2021, please reach out! I will provide genuine, attentive service. I bring a fresh perspective to the table. I have a passion for helping people achieve their goals!
