This Week At Deep Creek (July 24)
Friendsville Flotilla 2019. Ok when you think of going to the mountains you think about floating on a lazy river!! WELLLLL Friendsville has one of the best tubing rivers in the USA. On July 27th 2019 we are having our annual Friendsville Flotilla. The river from Water Street to the park or lake is a little over a mile and a half and does have some class I/II rapids thrown in for your splashing pleasure. We will have prizes for best Float, and best Costume. Someone needs to dethrone the mad scientist Jess Whitmore. He has been the king of the float building for the past few years.
The event is free but you are responsible for your own safety and you will also need to wear a Coast Guard approved PFD and if you are in a kayak you will need to wear a helmet. There is no cost for this event. Just something we do up here in the hills and figured we would share with everyone. . This event has grown over the past few years because the word has leaked out. Friendsville also has two eateries Water Street Cafe and Deep Creek Catering. The water can be hard to figure out exactly when it gets to town so we are going to shoot for a meeting time at the new parking lot on Maple Street at 4 p
We will launch on Water Street under the route 42 bridge. This started out as save the date but I got carried away Will update but just wanted to get the save the date out. It is also the same weekend as the Upper Yough Race so if you are in town for the race but are not boating feel free to join in. We will also have games in the park by the stage. I will change and update this event post when we get everything dialed in. See ya in the river.
