July 4th Fireworks
Broadford Park - Tuesday, July 3 at dusk. The rain date is July 5. Admission is $3 per person, children 8 and under $1. The Community Concert Band and an octet of singers from the Choral Society will be on hand the evening of the fireworks at approximately 7:30pm, performing at Pavilion #1. Kona Ice and Lakeside Creamery will have items for purchase.
Wisp Resort - Come celebrate Summer in Deep Creek Lake with the Stage Wisp Concert Series and Farmer & Art Market! Every Wednesday in July and August you can walk through the market from 4pm to 8pm to browse local farmer's and artisan booths chock full of fresh produce, hand-crafted wares and unique goods. Then put your dancing shoes on for the main event -- Stage Wisp! Enjoy FREE live music from 6:30pm to 9pm under the saddle tent on the front lawn - don't forget your blanket and lawn chairs! Hot eats and cool drinks will be available for purchase on the outdoor deck. Fireworks will start at 9pm over the Mountain Park on the 4th. (Rain date for fireworks is July 5.)The show and market goes on Rain or Shine! Should inclement weather find us, the event will be moved indoors to the McHenry Lodge.

Adult Book Club - The Accident Adult Book Club meets on the second Thursday of each month

4th of July Fireworks - July 4, 2019 (Rain Date July 5, 2019) The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce presents the annual Fire on the Mountain Fireworks Display. Join the celebration! Fireworks will light up the sky above Marsh Mountain at Wisp Resort overlooking Deep Creek Lake on July 4th. The display is set to begin around 9:30 pm and is set off from the tubing hill at the Mountain Park. Prime viewing locations for the annual display include: Scenic overlook along Rt. 219 Wisp Resort
Accident 4th of July Homecoming - parade, patriotic program, arts and crafts, food, games, and historic tours.
Yoga in the Lavender Fields - Come enjoy a 60 minute Gentle Stretch Yoga Session with Sheri Kosh of Beach to Peak Yoga. RSVP by the night before and cost is $15 or walk-in for $20/person. Bring your own mat and straps or we have some extras. Class starts right at 9 am, Rain or Shine!

Aquatic Adventures - Join the Naturalist in the Discovery Room of the Center for this exciting adventure! We will head to the docks to use aqua scopes and dip nets to catch critters and fish that call Deep Creek home.
Brant Mine Hike - Take a guided hike with the naturalist to the historic Brant Mine. The hike begins in the center in our newly-designed mine room. Once at the mine site you will see the remnants of a coal mine that was operated in the 1920’s. Plus, you never know what wildlife we will see on the way. Approx. 2 hours. Moderate Hike.
Chautauqua "Then and Now" festival - Join us in July 2019 for a very special Chautauqua “Then and Now” festival to be held in Mountain Lake Park, MD, the original home of Chautauqua in Maryland. The 25th annual Chautauqua living history series will take place over three days and will include full days of activities and special presentations, Each evening, the activities will conclude with interactive presentations from Maryland Humanities Chautauqua 2019, “Making Waves.”
Roots One Year Anniversary Block Party - Garrett County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Roots!The celebration will continue as Roots welcomes clients and guests to their Grand Re-Opening at the new location and one-year Anniversary Block Party with their neighbors, Cashmere Clothing Co..(also celebrating their Grand Opening)and Gourmet & More (of Schoolhouse Earth.)

Herp Walk at the Discovery Center - Herp Walk Join the Naturalist to learn how to safely identify native reptiles and amphibians on a walk through park. Approx 1 hour.
Campfire Program- Snakes of Maryland- Join us at the Amphitheater for a presentation on Maryland’s Snakes and have an opportunity to meet our own animal ambassadors from the Discovery Center. Marshmallows provided. In the event of rain, the program will be held in the Discovery Room of the Discovery Center
Terra Alta Demolition Derby - Terra Alta Vol. Fire Dept’s July Demolition Derby. Will be held July 6th. Gates open at 2:30pm action starts at 4pm. Rain or shine.
Deep Creek Lions Boat Parade - The Deep Creek Lake Lion's Club Boat Parade will be held on Saturday, July 6th, starting from the from the McHenry cove and will proceed in single file past a number of judging stations along the route. Spectators at the judging stations will vote for their favorite boats, and prizes will be awarded in a number of categories, with a Grand Prize consisting of a custom-designed Winner’s Pennant and trophy.
Sunday July 7 -
Hungry Critters at the Discovery Center - Meet us inside the Discovery Center as we feed the critters! You will be given a chance to touch a live reptile or amphibian!
